I don't smoke, I can't stand smoke, especially cigarette smoke (smoke and not smokers!);
I'm even lightly allargic to it, but, of course - why not?! - my mother, all my friends and my boyfriend are smokers... I have no problem with them or any other people who smokes - unless they ignorantly blow their smoke into my face, but sometimes if there's too much smoke in the air, I have troubles breathing or I start drowning. That's the reason why I steer clear of indoor concerts, for example...

...but smoke looks incredibly good on pictures...(:
Do you smoke?
If you're a non - smoker, how do you avoid unpleasant situations with smoking company? ^^

I'm a bit of a bitch about indoor smoking. I don't allow it at my place, my guests know about it and go on the balcony. As for bars, clubs and indoor concerts, smoking inside a public place is illegal in Montreal. (Yay!)
ReplyDeleteAs for my smoker friends, they know how sensitive I am and usually will go smoke outside their own apartment or by a open window. I have great friends. :)
That's nice of them! ^^
DeleteI don't allow smoking in my apartement either, I ask everyone to smoke on the balcony too. It's cosed, they can sit down, whatever. My boyfriend also smokes on the balcony, in fact, he offered to do so, we never had to argue about it. :)
Smoking inside is illegal here since February as well, but many people, even bars still just ignore it...at normal places they warn or throw you out, so it is bettet, but before, it was disasterous...they even let you smoke in restaurants; last year, in the end of December we had dinner with some colligues in a restaurant; there was 'some air in the smoke'...I felt sick, I couldn't even finish my meal...:S
BTW.
ReplyDeleteTag! You're it!

Aw, thanks, something to do this evening...! xD
DeleteI agree with how cool smoke looks in pictures. I actually can't stand smoke anymore. I used to smoke and once I stopped I realized how much it made everything smell. I can't stand being in an elevator with someone who smells like smoke. Just a personal thing.. can't do anything about it. I'm just always surprised how many people still smoke. anyway... started a facebook group you may be interested in: http://www.facebook.com/groups/248527528567367/
ReplyDeleteThank you for the invitation, I joined! ^^
DeleteNaaah, it's not just you!At my previous work, the smokers always arrived 5 minutes earlier just to be able to smoke one before work starts, so I had to share the elevator with at least one of them every single day...I think, that was one of the reasons why I hated to go to work at the end...:P The same goes for the bus...
cant stand smoke, too. it feels as if im breathing sand whenever the air is filled with smoke (and smells HORRIBLE). i never tried a cigarette and never will. sadly a lot of my friends and also my mom smokes (though after today - she got a heart attack - she said she will stop. we'll see...) but they understand i dont want them to smoke in my flat. :-)
ReplyDeletebut yes, it does look very beautiful on pictures... meh... should be possible to have something that looks the same but smells better :-P
True, they should invent something like that! ^^
DeleteI haven't tried smoking either; noone wants to believe me, but I've never smoked a cigarette in my life and I want to keep it that way.
My mom smokes too - even after her mom got lung cancer partially because of smoking - and it was only very recently that she stopped smoking in the car, the whole house still smells like cigarettes, it's ingrained into everything...:/
I hope, your mom's gonna be okay! ^^
I've never smoked, and I'm very allergic to second-hand smoke. I am SO thankful for the ban on indoor smoking or I would never be able to go to the clubs!
ReplyDeleteMr. Kitty smoked until last November. He was always VERY considerate about it and kept well away from me while smoking, but we both were concerned about the ill effects of it and he finally gathered up the willpower to quit. He used the e-cigarette to help him quit, which actually made it fairly easy! He quit cigarettes cold turkey and quit the e-cigarette two months later. I still cry tears of joy every time I think about the fact that smoking is no longer a danger to my precious husband's health!!!
Aw, yes, I can imagine how releaved you are now, because it's indeed not only the smell of smoke, but a health issue. Congrats to Mr. Kitty! ^^
DeleteMy boyfriend's quit once because of his previous girlfriend, but he said, he'd never even try again, it was 'hell'; these were his words...:) So I poke him sometimes with the idea of quitting, but he sticks to his 'no'...but he really keeps it away from me, he never smokes when I'm around.
I hope, people will finally get used to the ban here as well! I know that many smoker sais that they can't go out anymore, because the ban ruins the fun and I understand my smoking friends complaints when we go out, I can imagine that it's uncomfortable, but otherwise, as you said, I - any many other non-smokers - wouldn't be able to go to clubs either...
